Are you frequently disappointed with your ChatGPT results? It’s time to have a meeting with ChatGPT!
If you only ever ask basic questions, ChatGPT will give you basic results. For deeper and more insightful responses, you have to collaborate with AI and harness its full power to enhance and articulate your ideas.
In this article, I’m going to explain how to have a meeting with ChatGPT.
Why should you have a meeting with ChatGPT?
When I talk about having a meeting with ChatGPT, people get shocked. After all, you don’t have meetings with other tools in your tech stack, right?
But let’s face it - AI is different. Because of natural language processing, you can have a back-and-forth conversation exactly almost like you would with a human.
Here are some reasons to make your ChatGPT session into a meeting:
- Spend more time on your problem — Instead of accepting the first result, spend more time enhancing your ideas with AI.
- Have a conversation — Get used to trying out different prompting methods to discover which techniques work best.
- Iterate until you arrive at the best results — Using AI to create content is a process, and you can give feedback and redirect the tool to get closer to your goal.
Even if you give lots of detail, I usually find that one prompt is not enough. In your ChatGPT meeting, you’ll go back and forth, perfecting the outcome until you’re satisfied.
Now, how should you prepare for your meeting?
Prepare for your meeting with ChatGPT
Treat your ChatGPT meeting like any other meeting.
Of course, you don’t have to prepare in advance. Your AI assistant won’t get frustrated if you don’t turn up with an agenda, so my usual motto: “No agenda, no attenda”, doesn’t quite apply here.
But - if you’re going to set aside precious time, it’s good to prepare so you get the most value out of the exercise.
Here are some things you can prep in advance:
- An agenda — Define the topic that you’ll discuss with ChatGPT
- A time limit — Setting a time limit for the meeting can help you stay on track and focused.
- Your goal — Have one result in mind you want to achieve from the meeting. For example, a post outline, article draft, content strategy, or ICP definition.
- Examples — Prepare some examples to share with ChatGPT for reference.
Remember — you’ll need Search with Bing or another plug-in such as Web Pilot to be able to paste links into ChatGPT. If you don’t have a plug-in, you can copy and paste text into your conversation.
Tip: Collect resources in a Google doc or note beforehand to have them ready to paste into the conversation.
ChatGPT meeting process
When it’s time to kick off your meeting, open up ChatGPT and tell it you want to have a meeting about your chosen topic. You can also explain the desired result you’re aiming for at this stage.
It’s helpful to give as much context as possible before ChatGPT starts generating text.
You can say something like:
“Don’t respond yet - just read the instructions and the examples that I’m about to provide”
Then, you can allow ChatGPT to absorb the information first and ask for a response when you’re finished.
You can also ask ChatGPT to ask you questions, which can help enhance your creative thinking.
When results come in, make sure to give detailed feedback and point out specific words and phrases you like or dislike.
3 meetings you can have with ChatGPT
Wondering what kind of meeting to have with ChatGPT?
Here are 3 examples!
ChatGPT meeting 1: Define your company positioning
- Agenda — Define company positioning and unique value proposition
- Time limit — 30 minutes
- Goal — A clear positioning statement that helps team members and customers understand who we help, what we do, and how we are different.
- Examples — Value propositions or mission statements from competitors or companies with a similar vibe or identity.
To prepare, come up with some questions for ChatGPT to ask you, which could be about your company, how you stand out from competitors, and what kind of customers you serve.
Then, ask ChatGPT to create some value statements based on your answers to the questions.
Refine the results by telling ChatGPT which ones you like best and WHAT you like about those statements - specific words, style, length, etc. Also, identify the ones you like least.
Throughout the conversation, you’ll end up with several variations to decide from, which you can edit yourself or present to your team for feedback or to vote on.
ChatGPT meeting 2: Content strategy for the quarter
- Agenda — Prepare a content strategy for Q1 with a schedule of blog articles, social media posts, and more to publish each week.
- Time limit — 45 minutes
- Goal — A detailed content schedule for the quarter that the marketing department can start working on right away.
- Examples — Previous content strategies or templates from the web that work for you.
ChatGPT could produce a generic content strategy with a single prompt like: “Write a content strategy for an SEO company”.
However, by working with ChatGPT in a meeting, you can dig deeper into topic ideas and find more interesting angles for content.
Be specific about what topics to cover, what you want to achieve with your content, plus any special insights or expertise to help you stand out.
You should also give directions about your brand and tone of voice and specify the type of content you want (LinkedIn posts, blogs, videos). ChatGPT can also help you decide what content types to focus on.
As ChatGPT starts to produce results, highlight the ideas you like best and which ones you won’t include in the strategy.
You can say things like:
- “Can we explore the topic of off-page SEO a bit deeper? Produce more blog article ideas around that sub-topic.”
- “Don’t include any posts about keyword research as this topic is overdone”
- “Can we create a controversial take on the topic of link-building to differentiate us from other brands?”
ChatGPT meeting 3: Onboarding process for my executive assistant
- Agenda — Create an interactive onboarding doc for my new executive assistant.
- Time limit — 30 minutes
- Goal — An onboarding doc compiling all the resources and tutorials my assistant will need, organized in chronological order.
- Examples — Another onboarding doc as a framework, plus your executive assistant’s job description.
Call a meeting with ChatGPT to create a custom onboarding document. Provide your assistant’s job description as well as plenty of background information about your role and your company.
It can also be helpful to include more background information about your assistant, such as their current skill set, plus any weaknesses or knowledge gaps the onboarding materials can help with.
Once you have a draft in ChatGPT, you can take this into another tool, such as Notion, where you can add links, embed content, and use checklists and databases to help track your assistant’s progress.
General ChatGPT prompting tips
To wrap up, let’s go over some general prompting tips to help you get the best results from ChatGPT:
- Adjusting the temperature — You can control how creative or conservative ChatGPT’s response will be. Set your temperature on a scale of 0-1, where 1 will produce the most diverse results.
- Summarizing — Any time you paste in lots of reference documents, you can ask ChatGPT to summarize the content so you can move forward based on the main value.
- Role-playing — One of my favorite prompting tools is to ask ChatGPT to “play the role of a…content marketer/sales rep/new hire/target customer, etc.” This can be a useful perspective shift in your meeting.
- Use voice — If you have the latest, paid version of ChatGPT for mobile, you can use the voice feature. This can make the meeting flow even more naturally - you can speak to it as if it were your colleague!
